sharing
choose who can see and edit a canvas: private, your organization, or public, plus named people with a role.
Every canvas has one visibility and a list of named people with a role. Together they decide who can open it and who can change it.
open the share dialog
On a canvas, press the three dots at the top right and choose Share…. The lock beside it turns into a green globe when the canvas is public. You can also press <kbd>⌘</kbd> <kbd>K</kbd> and choose Share canvas.
Only the canvas owner and admins see this item. Everyone else sees no Share… at all, and a View only badge appears next to the canvas name if they can read but not edit.
visibility
The dialog's Visibility list has up to three choices. The one in use shows a dot.
| visibility | who gets in |
|---|---|
| Private | only you, and anyone you name below |
| Organization | everyone in the canvas's organization, as editors. Listed only if you belong to an organization. |
| Public | anyone can view and reuse it, signed in or not: a signed-out visitor who opens its link sees the canvas read-only. It also appears under the dashboard's Public library tab. |
Changing visibility applies at once; there is no save button.
roles
A role is a level, and each level includes the ones below it.
| role | can |
|---|---|
| viewer | open and read the canvas, and see its results. Viewers can't drive a pixie. |
| editor | change the canvas: add, move, wire and run nodes, and chat with pixies |
| admin | everything an editor can, plus share the canvas and change its visibility |
| owner | the person who made it. Always has full access. |
If more than one rule applies to you, you get the highest. A public canvas gives everyone viewer; an organization canvas gives members editor; a named role can raise you above both.
share with a person
Under Share with people, type their email, pick Viewer, Editor or Admin and press Share. The person must already have an ixi account: otherwise the dialog says No user with that email (they must sign up first). Ask them to sign in first, or invite them to your organization; see members and roles.
Each person you added shows as a row with their role and a bin button that revokes access. A row shows a shortened id rather than an email. When nobody has been added, the list says Not shared with anyone yet.
what to share how
- A teammate edits with you: set Organization, or add them as Editor.
- A client reviews: add them as Viewer by email.
- A reusable asset for everyone: make it Public, then it shows in the Public library.
limits & good to know
- Credits belong to organizations, not canvases; see billing and credits for who pays for a run.
- A viewer opening a canvas does not change it.
- To stop sharing, set the visibility back to Private and press the bin on each person.
