what is ixi
the whole model in one page: a canvas you build on, pixies that work it, and the recipes and flows you make from it.
ixi is a shared canvas where you wire AI models, files and tools together, and where small AI workers called pixies build and run that work with you. Everything you make is a canvas; the other ideas are what you do with one.
the pieces
Canvas. An infinite board. You pan with a drag, zoom between 5% and 250%, and put nodes on it. Everyone you share it with edits it live. See nodes and wires.
Node and wire. A node holds one thing: a note, a picture, a model, a table, a 3D part. A wire carries a node's output into another node's input. Ports are typed (text, media, number, yes/no, JSON), so ixi only lets you wire things that fit.
Model. A node that runs an AI model: image, video, upscale, vectorize, background removal, 3D. Fill its inputs, press Let's go!, and the result lands in the node's tray. See model nodes.
Pixie. An AI worker that lives on a canvas. You chat with it, and it adds nodes, wires them, runs models, reads your files and writes notes. Each pixie has a sprite, a name and a role. See meet the pixies.
Studios. Some nodes open into a full-window editor: the 3D model editor, the image composer, the animation studio, the video editor, design scripts and live sandbox apps. Each is a node on the canvas, so its output wires onward like any other.
Process and run. When something worked, a pixie can turn that canvas into a process: a recipe with the inputs you choose. Pressing Run on a process starts a run, which is its own copy of the canvas, worked by the pixie. See make a process.
Pipeline. A canvas of processes chained together. One execution of a pipeline is a session, and approvals can stop it before a step publishes. See build a pipeline.
Table. Rows and columns. A column can be bound to a process, so filling it runs the process once per row. See tables.
how they fit
A canvas can be a project you work on, a process, a run or a pipeline. You open all four the same way, and the address shows which: /project/…, /process/…, /run/…, /pipeline/….
facts people trip over
- A process is a canvas. There is no separate editor. Open the process and you are looking at the canvas the pixie copies for each run.
- Runs keep going without you. Close the tab and a run still finishes. Results wait for your review unless you set the approval policy otherwise.
- Nodes can be canvases. A node can hold another canvas, which is how assets, tools and processes sit inside a project. See nested canvases and the library.
- You belong to an organization. Projects, teammates, credits and pixie email addresses live in an organization, not in your personal account. Models, pixie turns and some studios spend credits from it.
- Access is per canvas. A canvas is private, shared with your organization, or public, and you can grant individual people a role. See sharing.
