meet the pixies

pixies are the agents that live on your canvas. each has a name, a look, a memory and an email address, and they build, run and judge work alongside you.

A pixie is an AI agent that lives on your canvas as a small sprite. You talk to it in the dock; it reads what is on the canvas, adds and wires nodes, runs models, looks at the results and tells you what it found.

Pixies are single-purpose. A new kind of work is meant to get a new pixie, so one stays good at one thing and remembers it.

how it fits

  • A pixie works in a canvas. It can see the nodes there, and if it stands inside a zone it works in that zone.
  • It is driven from the dock chat: chat. How much it does on its own is set by its working mode.
  • What it can do depends on its skills and tools.
  • A resident pixie lives inside another thing: a process, a sandbox, a 3D model or an image composer.
  • Anything it needs from you waits in the inbox.

Residents are always in Executing mode: doing the work is their job, so there is no mode to pick. You can reach them from the node they live in, or from the inbox.

the facts people trip over

Every pixie has its own name and look. It is born with a first name such as Pip, Boba or Suki, drawn from a pool of 80, and a sprite generated from that name. After it claims a process it earns an epithet: Pip the Painter. Click the name in the header of the full chat thread to rename it.

Names are unique across your organisation. Not just on one canvas. A name always points to exactly one pixie, because that name is also an email address.

Each pixie has its own address. <name>.<org-slug>@ixi.so. Only members of your organisation can write to it. See inbox and email.

A pixie remembers. It saves short notes about what works: your taste, prompts that paid off, pitfalls. Open the book icon in the header of the full chat thread to read them. Each note holds up to 2,000 characters. The memory belongs to the pixie, not the canvas.

a pixie keeps its own notes.

Pixies spend credits. Each turn of a conversation costs a small amount, and the models they run cost what they normally cost. See what a pixie turn costs.
