chat
talk to a pixie from the dock, attach files, answer its question cards and approve its plans.
You talk to pixies from the dock at the bottom of the canvas. The pixie answers in the thread, adds nodes beside its sprite and, when it needs a decision from you, puts a card in the chat.
pick who you talk to
The second button on the dock shows the sprite of the pixie you are chatting with. Hover it to list every pixie on the canvas; click one to switch. A pixie with an unsent message in its box shows a pencil, so you can leave a half-written message and come back.
To bring in a new pixie, choose New pixie at the bottom of that list. You can also click a pixie's sprite on the canvas, or double-click it to open the chat expanded.
write to it
Type in the box ("Chat with <name>…") and press Enter, or press the send button. While the pixie works, the stop button cancels the turn. If a turn fails, Retry runs it again.
The header shows once you open the full thread: click Expand the thread (the arrows icon in the corner of the chat), or double-click the pixie's sprite. It has the pixie's name (click to rename), its working mode pills, a book icon for its memory, a bin to clear the conversation, and controls to collapse or expand the thread.
attach things
The paperclip (Attach files) takes images, audio, PDFs and text, Markdown, JSON or CSV files. Images and PDFs also land on the canvas as file nodes next to the pixie, so you and the pixie refer to the same node. You can also pick a result and choose Add to chat from its menu, see generations.
point at nodes
Select nodes on the canvas and they join your message as references. The pixie reads them by id.
answer a question card
When the pixie needs a decision it asks with a card instead of a paragraph.
- A question card has up to 6 questions answered together. Each has choices; some allow several (pick any). A star marks the pixie's suggestion: "★ = suggested — confirm or change". An Other — type your own answer… box is always there. Press Confirm (or Confirm answers).
- A choice with pictures: options can point at a node on the canvas, so you pick by looking.
- An approval card is a go or no-go. Approve goes ahead; Not yet asks why first (Send feedback, or Decline without feedback), and your note goes back so the pixie reworks against it. If you have left comments on a plan, Request changes (n) sends them.
- A plan card lays out the approach in numbered steps and is confirmed with an approval card.
Nothing is published or built on a promise: results only publish after you click Approve.
the attention dot
When a pixie has news, a fuchsia dot shows in three places:
- on the pixie's sprite on the canvas;
- on the dock's pixie button, when a pixie has unseen messages;
- as a row in the inbox at the top of the canvas.
Open the chat and the dot clears.
limits & good to know
- A conversation lives with the pixie, not the browser tab. Close the tab and a running turn finishes.
- Typing a reply to an approval card counts as an answer in chat, not a click: only Approve publishes.
