skills and tools
what a pixie can actually do on your canvas, from building nodes and running models to searching the web, reading PDFs and remembering what works.
A pixie is only as useful as what it can do. Everything it does happens with real tools on your real canvas, so you can watch each node appear.
What it may do depends on its working mode. In Brief it can only read, ask and plan.
build on the canvas
A pixie can read the canvas, then:
- add text nodes, sticky notes and model nodes, and set a model's inputs;
- connect nodes and edit text, labels and positions;
- duplicate a proven setup to try a variation, and delete nodes;
- run models (in Executing), or pin a yellow RUN tab on a node for you to press (in Coaching);
- tidy a messy canvas with auto layout, which lays nodes out left to right so inputs sit left of the models they feed, nothing overlaps and no Run button is hidden.
New nodes land beside the pixie. If it stands in a zone, they land in that zone.
find and choose models
A pixie searches the model catalog by name and category, and reads a model's input list before wiring it. Its search forgives typos, spoken numbers and missing hyphens, and only returns models that can run and be billed. See model nodes.
look at what it made
A pixie looks at pictures with its own eyes before it tells you a result is good, at a resolution it chooses. It can read PDFs and look at individual pages, including PDFs you attach in chat.
the org wiki
Pixies search your organisation's wiki and ixi's own guides, load the one that fits, and can write down a technique that proved out. Guide content stays out of the chat: the pixie points you to the wiki instead of pasting it.
remember
Pixies keep their own memory: short notes about your taste, what worked and what failed. A note is rewritten rather than duplicated, and holds up to 2,000 characters. Read them from the book icon in the header of the full chat thread. See meet the pixies.
skills it loads on demand
Some jobs need a longer set of instructions. A pixie loads a skill when the job matches, and only then. Loading a skill also unlocks that skill's extra tools for the rest of that turn.
| skill | for |
|---|---|
| image-search | real images from the web: image search, a place's photos, reverse image search; each image it keeps is copied into your storage |
| exa-search | web research: search by meaning or by exact words, read full pages, find similar pages |
| create-process | turn a proven setup that needs judgment into a process the pixie owns and works |
| create-tool | turn a proven fixed pipeline into a reusable tool in your library |
| sandbox-builder | write sandbox code, run it, look at it and iterate |
| design-builder | author design scripts with controls |
| model3d-builder | build parametric 3D models and check they evaluate |
Each skill is offered only to the roles it suits: a sandbox dev gets the sandbox tools without loading anything, and a modeler doesn't carry exa-search.
A pixie can email members of your organisation, from its own address, and attach what it made. It can't write to anyone outside the organisation. See inbox and email.
limits & good to know
- A pixie tries a deliverable at most 3 times in Executing, then reports honestly.
- It shows its work: a node chip in chat links to every node it made.
- Roles with a job get the tools for it and not the rest. A postie or keeper can't generate content.
